Pre-School (Ages 3-5)

Overview & Description


Classes are 30 minutes in length with a maximum of four students. The preschool curriculum has 6 stations. Below are the general goals of each station.


*Reusable swim diapers (pool pants) are required for all children not yet potty trained and/or 3 and under.


Stations

Preschool Station 1 - Happy in the Water

  • Happily put whole face in the water and blow bubbles

Preschool Station 2 - Blowing bubbles

  • Rhythmic breath exchange
  • Comfort on back
  • Comfortable independent underwater exploration

Preschool Station 3 - Floating

  • Independent, balanced and relaxed front and back floats
  • Lifesaving skill of jumping or falling in and rolling onto back to a stable, extended float
  • Rhythmic relaxed wall bobs
  • Propulsive, efficient front and back kicking

Preschool Station 4 - Moving through the water

  • Jumping bobs
  • Horizontal rollovers–back to front and front to back
  • Jump in, roll on back, breathe, rollover, kick back to the wall
  • Retrieve object from bottom of pool-4 ft

Preschool Station 5 - Switches

  • Sitting bobs
  • Front somersaults
  • Beginning freestyle
  • Elementary backstroke

Preschool Station 6 - Now I’m Swimming!

  • Side kicking (freestyle breathing position)
  • Comfortably swim 30 feet on back
  • Comfortably swim 30 feet on front with roll over breaths
