Pre-School (Ages 3-5)
Overview & Description
Classes are 30 minutes in length with a maximum of four students. The preschool curriculum has 5 stations. Below are the general goals of each station.
*All children under 4, regardless of level of potty training, must wear two reusable, cloth, snug fitting swim diapers.
Stations
Preschool Station 1 - Happy in the Water
- Happily put whole face in the water and blow bubbles
- Introduce back float
Preschool Station 2 - Blowing bubbles
- Rhythmic breath exchange
- Front float
- Comfort on back
- Comfortable independent underwater exploration
- Nose bubbles
- Kicking, face in, blowing bubbles
Preschool Station 3 - Moving Through the Water
- Independent, balanced and relaxed front and back floats and glides
- Lifesaving skill of jumping or falling in and rolling onto back to a stable, extended float
- Rhythmic relaxed moving bobs
- Propulsive, efficient front and back kicking
Preschool Station 4 - Balance and Propulsion
- Relaxed rhythmic jumping bobs
- Horizontal rollovers
- Jump in, roll on back, breathe, rollover, kick back to the wall
- Retrieve object from bottom of pool-4 ft
- Fundamenal dolphin kick
Preschool Station 5 - Now I'm Swimming!
- Sitting bobs
- Front somersaults
- Fundamental freestyle
- Elementary backstroke
- Fundamental Breastroke
- Fundamental Backstroke
